Residents living around thermal power plants like Anpara Thermal Power stations in Uttar Pradesh said that they continue to suffer due to fly ash breaches even after penalties and fines imposed against these violating power plants.
Local residents from Anpara in Sonbhadra district, Uttar Pradesh state that owing to extremely low fly ash utilisation levels, routine overflow of fly ash into the Rihand Reservoir. The authors mention that 21% of discharge of fly ash in the Rihand Reservoir was attributed to Anpara TPS.
