CAG Highlights on Financial Practices (DMF Collections) for year 2019-2020
As per information provided by the Commissioner of Geology and Mining working under the Industries and Mines Department of Government of Gujarat, the status of recovery of contributions in respect of major and minor minerals in the State up to 31 March 2020 was as shown in Table 4.1.
Audit observed that each Geologist maintained separate savings account for major minerals, minor minerals and contingency fund. The amounts so collected were being credited to the saving accounts maintained by the Geologists, instead of the Public Account, in violation of Article 266(2) of the Constitution of India.
